Gran Turismo starts on pole, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are close behind
The comedy Please excuse us for the inconvenience is in third place.
It’s not quite a kick-start, but the movie Gran Turismo, adapted from the famous car simulation video game, successfully launched at the French box office. For its first day in theaters, Wednesday, Neill Blomkamp’s film has accumulated 87,062 admissions (including 31,501 with previews). For comparison, the adaptation of Need for Speed was half as efficient in 2014.
Behind the race leader, we find Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years. The animated film produced by Seth Rogen is doing with honors, selling 80,000 tickets on its first day. Still far from the 160,000 admissions achieved on the first day of ninja turtles 2 with Megan Fox, the latest version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles released in cinemas, in 2016.
On the third step of the podium, we find We apologize for the inconvenience. With nearly 20,000 spectators, the comedy by Olivier Van Hoofstadt, director of the cult Dikkenekgets off to a much better start than his last film, Lucky (12,000 first day admissions in 2020).
