Filming has been over for quite some time. Launched in 2019 – and disrupted in the wake of the health crisis – The Way of the Windthe next film by Terrence Malick will be a story divided into several episodes of the life of Jesus Christ, with the Hungarian actor Geza Röhrig in the role of Messiah.
The feature film still does not have a release date, but Alex Boden, producer of the filmmaker, gives news this week in an interview with Variety. He reveals that “filming is completely over.
“We’re really in the editing room right now. We have an incredible cast. Terrence Malick toured this time in several different countries. From a production standpoint, it’s a pretty fantastic achievement. Terry is very happy with what he is seeing so far, but there are no announcements yet…”
The release will therefore only be for 2024 at the earliest.
In the casting, Mark Rylance will play Satan, Matthias Schoenaerts will be Saint Pierre, Philip Arditti will play Hosea. Nabil Elouahabi, Aidan Turner, Con O’Neill, Joseph Mawle, Karel Roden, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Ali Suliman and Shadi Mar’i complete the cast.
