HBO’s Green Lantern series has found its villain

Sinestro will be played by Blacklist actor Ulrich Thomsen.

On the road to Lanterns from HBO, there will be Sinestro!

Ulrich Thomsen (former villain of Blacklist) has been cast to play Sinestro, the famous DC Comics villain, in the upcoming series adapted from Green Lantern.

Sinestro is described as a former member of the “Green Lanterns gone bad. He is ruthless but undeniably charming, and his manipulative nature fuels his long-standing obsession with his former mentor, Hal Jordan.“.

Kyle Chandler will play Hal Jordan, while‘Aaron Pierre was cast as John Stewart.

At their side, Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) will play the regular role of Sheriff Kerry, a “pragmatic woman deeply devoted to her family and her united city. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that strengthened her resolve, gives her an anchor when the community’s secrets begin to surface“. She might have a romantic relationship with Hal Jordan.

Lanterns is a highly anticipated series, created by Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers, Watchmen) and comic book author Tom King. It will follow new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops caught up in a dark mystery as they investigate a murder committed in the heart of the United States.

James Hawes, director ofA Lifewill sign the first two of the eight episodes that will make up the series.
