He succeeds Tom Hanks: Morgan Spector will be the new Robert Langdon in the sequel to Da Vinci Code

The star of The Gilded Age will don the costume of the famous symbologist imagined by Dan Brown, for this Netflix series which will adapt The Secret of Secrets, the last novel in the saga published in 2025.

Succession is assured. After being played by Tom Hanks in the three film adaptations of Da Vinci Code, Robert Langdon will now have a new face.

Netflix has formalized the casting of Morgan Spector – revealed by the HBO historical drama The Gilded Age – in its future series adapted from The Secret of Secrets, the last novel in the saga published in 2025 by Dan Brown.

The actor will once again play the famous Harvard professor, specialist in symbology, described by Netflix as “a Harvard professor and internationally recognized symbologist, whose eidetic memory and talent for solving puzzles allow him to unravel mysteries on the border between science and spirituality.”

Showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost) doesn’t hide his enthusiasm: “Morgan is a wonderful actor whose work is always imbued with intelligence, sensitivity and humanity. He is perfect to play Robert Langdon: a brilliant academic whose curiosity and intellect are his main tools.”

This new adaptation will follow Langdon in a race against time to find a missing scientist and get his hands on a revolutionary manuscript, the discoveries of which could shake up the very understanding of the human mind.

Rebecca Hall – who is also Morgan Spector’s real-life wife – is reportedly in negotiations to play the lead female role.

Note that this is not the first television foray into the world of Dan Brown.

In 2021, the series The Lost Symbol told the story of Robert Langdon’s youth with Ashley Zukerman in the lead role. Broadcast in France on M6, it went relatively unnoticed and was canceled after just one season.

Dan Brown’s novels about Robert Langdon, including The Da Vinci Code, have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. They gave birth to a trilogy of films led by Tom Hanks, composed of Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels and Demons (2009) and Inferno (2016).

For this new adaptation, Dan Brown will serve as executive producer alongside Carlton Cuse. No release date yet.
