Henry Cavill still hopes to play James Bond despite Argylle
The actor plays a spy in Matthew Vaughn’s new film, but he doesn’t draw a line under 007 just yet.
In the shoes of a spy with a (funny) crew cut in the action comedy Argylealongside the singer Dua Lipa, Henry Cavill doesn’t seem to rule out his chances of playing another spy, James Bond. Even if the role escaped him for Casino RoyaleCavill’s name is still among the potential replacements for Daniel Craig.
Could he play two spies in quick succession? The actor believes his future as 007 depends on James Bond producers. “He’s a fun character (…) It’s up to Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson to decide if I’m kicked out of Bond for this reason”, declared the actor to Total Film.
While waiting to know the identity of the new James Bond, Henry Cavill will be on display this monthArgyle. The film tells the story of Elly Conway ((Bryce Dallas Howard)a novelist page turner starring Agent Argylle (Henry Cavill). Potential future James Bond reflected on his strange haircut and the confidence it gave the director Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman):
“Matthew came to me and said: “Look, trust me, I can make it look good” You know what? You don’t wake up with a brush cut like magic. It takes work. I don’t know if I have the time or patience for this sort of thing...”
In the casting, we will also find Dua Lipa, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana DeBose, John Cena or Samuel L. Jackson.
Argyle will be released in cinemas on January 31, 2024.
