Robbie recently explained to vogue last month than by playing herself Barbieshe must have wondered about the notions of beauty and seduction, while taking into account that it was still a question of a doll for children: “It’s a plastic doll. She has no organs. If she has no organs, she has no reproductive organs. (…) She is sexualized. But she should never be sexy.'” During his interview for the TimeRobbie also said that she would have refused Barbie if the scenario Greta Gerwig And Noah Baumbach had not incorporated many variations of the famous doll. Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, or Dua Lipa interpret different versions.
“If Mattel hadn’t made this change to have a multiplicity of Barbies, I don’t think I would have wanted to make the movie. I think it’s harmful to say, ‘This is the only version of Barbie and this is what women should aspire to be, look like and act.'”
We just have to wait for the release of Barbiescheduled for July 19.
