Joker: Folie à deux will be “a musical juke box”
Around fifteen hits will be reinterpreted in this suite by Todd Phillips.
We know more about the new (mis)adventure of the Joker Joaquin Phoenix : the musical comedy still produced by Todd Phillips and also led by Lady Gaga in Harley Quinn will be “a musical juke box”writing Variety. The article states that“at least fifteen reinterpretations of very famous songs will be included. One of which should be “That's Entertainment”from the 1953 musical film All on stagein everyone's minds associated with Judy Garland.”
The American magazine, often very well informed about Hollywood productions, also specifies that“there will be room for one or two original songs”which should be composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir, responsible for “to infuse his very particular and heady style” with each musical number of Joker: Folie à deux. We don't yet know if Gaga and Phoenix will perform the songs in question, but on paper, it would seem a shame to miss out!
Warner Bros. doesn't want to say more at the moment, but Variety nevertheless specifies that the way of condensing around fifteen hits into a single film is reminiscent of the productions Mamma Mia! Or Red Mill !, two musical works which enjoyed some success, both critically and publicly. While recalling that “Joker 2 is meant to break out of the mold of classic musical films.”
To learn more about Folie à deuxwe will have to be patient: this sequel also supported by Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener and Brandan Gleeson is expected at the beginning of October at the cinema.
