This HBO Max miniseries is directed by Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs.
Kate Winslet as a villain, this is the main promise of the trailer for The Regime, the new HBO Max miniseries. Without revealing much information about the nature of this political regime, we understand that Kate Winslet is a despot as tyrannical as she is elegant who seeks to maintain her hold on her country. We imagine that it is a British country, if not the whole of the United Kingdom, but no precise information is given in the trailer concerning its geographical location, nor the exact period during which this project takes place. It may very well be a deliberately fictitious dictatorship.
We are nevertheless facing a dystopian series, most probably set in the near future, which is reminiscent of the government of Gilead in The Handmaid’s Tale. Dressed to the nines, Kate Winslet will be the star of this fiction created by Will Tracy (the screenwriter of The Menu), and produced by Stephen Frears (The Queen) And Jessica Hobbs (The Crown).
All around the character of Kate Winslet a gallery of colorful characters unfolds: her haughty husband played by Guillaume Galliennehis military right-hand man played by Matthias Schoenaerts (Amsterdam), Andrea Riseborough (Mandy) is a member of his cabinet and the trailer even lets a character played by Hugh Grant. Funded by the producers of Succession, The Regime will be available on HBO Max starting March 4, 2024.
