Adam Driver is full of praise for Francis Ford Coppola: “I loved the Megalopolis process”
“It’s one of the best, if not the best, filming experience of my life,” says the actor.
After more than ten years of absence, the legendary Francis Ford Coppola returns behind the camera with Megalopolisan ambitious science fiction project entirely financed by his production company American Zoetrope to the tune of $120 million.
The film tells the story of an idealistic architect played by Adam Driver who dreams of rebuilding New York into an immense utopia after a devastating cataclysm. The film runs through the head of Coppola since the 1980s, but the vagaries of the industry meant that he was only able to put it into development very recently.
Thanks to its financial independence, Francis Ford Coppola had complete artistic freedom on the set. Adam Driverwho already had supported the filmmaker’s vision (especially when rumors of chaos ran, earlier this year), reiterated to Collider all the good things he thinks of this project and its creator: “Because he financed it himself, it made the filming process one of the best, if not the best filming experiences of my life. There was no excessive talking, no one was robbing Peter to pay Paul” says the actor.
Francis Ford Coppola wants Michel Gondry to resume his Philip K. Dick adaptation project
He insists on the filmmaker’s control over his work, a control permitted thanks to his independence of production: “It was like he was totally directing the movie he wanted to make and that was it. We said to ourselves: ‘Oh, that’s how movies should be.’ And he is the most generous and philosophical person I know. I loved this process and doing it with him. I love talking to him.” .
A prestigious director, prestigious casting: Nathalie Emmanuel (Game Of Thrones), Laurence Fishburne, Shia Labeouf, Giancarlo Esposito, Talia Shire, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight, Forest Whitaker, Jason Schwartzman And Dustin Hoffman will embody the key characters of this new milestone in the filmography of Coppola. You will still have to be patient before knowing its release date.
Waiting for, Adam Driver will soon be Enzo Ferrari in the biopic dedicated to the founder of the automobile team, directed by Michael Mann.
