Merteuil replays Dangerous Liaisons on HBO Max: trailer
Anamaria Vartolomei launches into a three-way tango against Vincent Lacoste and Lucas Bravo, under the perfidious scheme of Diane Kruger. So glamorous.
There was the great classic by Stephen Frears (1988). The modern remake like Sex Intentions (1998). Les Liaisons Dangereuses this time inspires French fiction.
The legendary novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos is entitled to a free adaptation for HBO Max. Rather, it is even a rereading, with Merteuil, a prestigious costume series which unveils its trailer (below). The opportunity to discover the first images of a feverish historical drama where power, seduction and revenge intertwine in a libertine Paris under Louis XV.
Anamaria Vartolomei plays Isabelle de Merteuil, a young orphan without fortune betrayed by the Viscount of Valmont (Vincent Lacoste). Determined to take revenge, she initiates the games of power and desire under the leadership of the sulphurous Madame de Rosemonde (Diane Kruger). Little by little, Isabelle becomes this legendary figure: the Marquise de Merteuil, virtuoso of manipulation and lies, ready to do anything to regain her freedom – even if it means losing her soul.
Around her, a cast that lives up to the ambitions of the series: Lucas Bravo as Count de Gercourt, Noée Abita as Madame de Tourvel, Julien de Saint-Jean as Louis de Germain, Fantine Harduin as Cécile de Volanges, Samuel Kircher as Chevalier Danceny, and Sandrine Blancke as Madame de Volanges.
“To be the heroine of her own life, she will destroy the lives of others” details the synopsis.
Created by Jean-Baptiste Delafon (Baron Noir), directed by Jessica Palud (Revenir), Merteuil will be available from November 14 on HBO Max, with one episode per week.
