Mick Jagger also wants his Rolling Stones biopic
After Queen, Michael Jackson and while waiting for the four films on the Beatles, another musical monument could soon be entitled to its biopic… provided we find the right period to bring to the screen.
Michael has become the biggest biopic of all time, and the musical genre continues to seduce Hollywood, while four films dedicated to the Beatles are being directed by Sam Mendes. And if the film dedicated to Madonna has, for the moment, been abandoned, there is undoubtedly a niche to tell us the legend of “Satisfaction” and the Rolling Stones.
At 82, Mick Jagger says he is interested in the idea of a biopic about his group formed sixty years ago.
Interviewed by GQ, the English singer revealed that he already had a very precise vision of the project:
“Yes, the idea of a biopic interests me. I’m not going to tell you more, but I know how I see it…“
For him, a good biopic should not tell the story of an entire life, but focus on a specific period. He cites as an example A complete stranger on Bob Dylan, with Timothée Chalamet, or even Get on Updedicated to James Brown and produced by… Mick Jagger himself.
“You have to find the right moment to focus on, a specific period. With Bob Dylan, we talk about the moment he went electric. You have to ask yourself what period interests you, what will you focus your efforts on? Take two worthwhile years…”
It remains to be seen which era of the Rolling Stones’ legendary career would merit a film. Because, as Jagger himself admits: “It’s a very long story.”
The singer does not have any name in mind to play him on screen. Several actors have already lent their features to the rock star, notably Nick Eversman in Get on Up or Jamie Campbell Bower in the series Urban Myths.
No project has yet been officially launched. But with the success of music biopics in recent years, the Rolling Stones legend could well be the next to hit the big screen.
