Netflix is ​​preparing a new remake of Sam Peckinpah’s Ambush

The director of Adolescence, Philip Barantini, will be at the helm of this new version of the classic worn at the time by Steve McQueen.

After being a hit with the series AdolescencePhilip Barantini will tackle a monument of American action cinema.

Netflix is ​​indeed developing a remake of Ambush (The Getaway in VO), classic by Sam Peckinpah in 1972 with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw.

The project will reunite Barantini with screenwriter Peter Craig, known for writing The Town And The Batman. The latter signed the script for this new version of the criminal thriller, while producing the film via his company Night Owl Stories.

The original film followed a just-released robber and his wife, who were forced to rob a Texas bank in exchange for his release. But after a bloody double-deal, the couple found themselves hunted by gangsters, thieves and police across Texas. At the time, the screenplay had been adapted by Walter Hill from the novel by Jim Thompson, published in 1958. Note that a first remake had already seen the light of day in 1994 with Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, a star couple of the time.

Former actor seen in Band of BrothersPhilip Barantini established himself behind the camera with his ability to film in sequence shots, notably with The Chef (Boiling Point) impressive behind closed doors in a kitchen, before exploding on Netflix thanks to Adolescencewhich has become one of the sensations on the platform this year.
