No season 2 for Bandi: Netflix is already canceling its series in Martinique
The thriller in the West Indies imagined by Eric and Capucine Rochant ends there.
The latest creation by Éric Rochant, the father of The Bureau of Legends, will not go any further. Created with his daughter Capucine, Bandi will not have a season 2.
The Martinican thriller, launched on April 9 on Netflix, was canceled despite an encouraging start. Among the most watched series in France, in mainland France and overseas, the fiction also reached first place in Mexico, Peru and Brazil. However, the platform confirmed this week to RCI Martinique that the adventure ended there.
According to several sources, despite a solid launch – with a number 1 position in the world top 10 during its second week – the series’ performance was not sufficient given its production costs.
To make its decision, Netflix analyzes viewing times, completion rate and subscriber engagement over time. In short: are the spectators watching the series until the end? Are they coming back? Do they recommend it via the famous “double thumbs up”?
The platform, however, assures that it is “a difficult decision which was not taken lightly”.
In a press release relayed by West Indian radio, a representative of the streaming giant even mentions “more than a series, a real cultural moment having highlighted Martinican talents, carried by the vision of Éric and Capucine Rochant as well as by the exceptional commitment of the actors and teams”.
“We are extremely proud of Bandi,” concludes Netflix, while thousands of fans are already mobilizing to try to get the streamer to reverse its decision:
