Orlando Bloom takes the face in this boxing film: trailer
The actor of the Lord of the Rings climbs the ring for The Cut, an uncompromising sports drama, which promises to be violent … psychologically.
This is the kind of role that actors love.
Orlando Bloom breaks his image as an elven seducer to embody a hard boxer with evil, who will take full mouth in The Cut.
Republic Pictures has just unveiled the trailer for this film in which Bloom swaps his bow for gloves, an uncompromising sports drama, which promises to be violent … psychologically.
The official pitch sets the tone: “After a defeat that ended his career, a former champion dates back to the ring to seek redemption. But as obsession grows and reality is hidden, he could well dive into something much more terrifying.”
In the unveiled images, Bloom shows a worn boxer, haunted by his past fall, which tries a comeback as brutal as desperate. To return to the top, he places himself under the thumb of a ruthless coach, ready to do anything to win – even if it means training him on a very dangerous slope.
John Turturro will make the dubious coach, such as Caitríona Balfe (Outland) will be his worried wife.
Directed by Sean Ellis (Anthropoid,, Metro Manila),, The Cut is written by Justin Bull, according to a story by Mark Lane. Presented at the Toronto Festival last year, the film will be released in theaters on September 5, 2025 in the USA. No French date yet.
