Date, pitch, casting… Alexandre Astier says everything about Kaamelott 2
The rest will be released in the cinema in two months, with as many stars as possible.
It’s not wrong! Kaamelott 2 promises to be one of the major events of the end of the year in French theaters. And Alexandre Astier already makes his fans salivate with a long post published on social networks. This Thursday, the director and actor confirmed that Kaamelott: Second part will be cut into two parts. By the way, he took the opportunity to announce the exit dates.
Part 1 will be released on October 22, 2025, and part 2 will follow on November 11, 2026 at the cinema.
Why did you choose to make two films? Alexandre Astier explains it in his message, specifying in passing the pitch:
“The second part of Kaamelott is the chapter where Arthur sends his knights – veterans or novices, longtime companions or recruits of the year – on an adventure. It is therefore a colossal number of characters, grouped in teams, who leave the round table to prove their value and their courage around the world. It is a long component, made up of many parallel stories, which deserves to dwell on it. I wouldn’t have compressed this in two hours. ”
He then confirms that this is one and the same suite: “A unique component, a single clear unit of time, the same worlds, the same adventurers… and above all, the same shooting, of more than eight months.”
Astier specifies that there will be no ellipse between the two parties, which can also be seen after each other as a single big film: “Like a big book cut in half, a long spectacle with intermission.”
Returning to its 25 years spent shaping the universe of Kaamelotthe evokes in passing his casting XXL: “Those who are no longer there, those who are still there, those who joined us, those who had gone for a time and who come back … I admit that one of my first pleasures of director is to welcome new actors in the world of K, which has become for some sort of institution. Young actresses and actors, often a little intimidated to the idea of joining the” historical “, who find their place
He took the opportunity to publish the complete distribution of the two parties, in which we note the arrival of Virginie Ledoyen, who takes up the role of Anna de Tintagel (previously embodied by Anouk Grinberg), or that of Franck Dubosc in the skin of a certain Alfarn.
But above all, fans of the series will notice the comeback of Simon Astier, alias Yvain, the knight to the lion and brother-in-law of Arthur, absent from the first part and back in this long-awaited suite.
Released in 2022, Kaamelott: First part had brought together nearly 3 million spectators in French theaters.
