Rebel Moon: the trailer for the second part is already here

Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Slasher, two repeats (review)

The sequel to Zack Snyder's space opera on Netflix is just a big fight scene without much vision.

We had finished the first part of Rebel Moon on a strange feeling: we wanted to see what happened next while Zack Snyder's film was generally a failure. Because we were ultimately attached to the band of galactic mercenaries brought together by Kora (Sofia Boutella) to fight with peasants, like Seven samuraiagainst the space fascists of the Mother World. The Child of Firethe first part of Rebel Moonslowly explored a galaxy very inspired by Star Wars And Warhammer 40,000.

The Slasher takes place almost entirely on the “rebel moon” of the title, an idyllic community of robust and virile peasants who cultivate wheat coveted by the Mother World, which earns us no less than two harvest sequences by the heroes, under the sun, in slow motion. Two embarrassing passages which encapsulate the style of the saga, placed under the sign of frumpy mannerism, blissful virilism, fascination for the simple and beautiful earth which definitely does not lie, even – and above all – in the uncertain future of this Digitally packed militaristic space opera.

The rest is in any case just a huge fighting scene (an hour of footage out of two) preceded by a few very repetitive flashbacks telling the heroes' past: the Mother World massacres a place, causing the trauma of a character , bis repeata, ad nauseam, et cetera. It is precisely on this et cetera that the film ends, without end, promising new adventures for the gang of Rebel Moon. Yes, well, okay, we'll watch this sequel too (and all those that the tireless Snyder promises us) hoping that one day there will be a good film that follows.

Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Slasher by Zack Snyder, with Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein… Available on Netflix.

Rebel Moon 3? Zack Snyder even plans to make 5 or 6 films!
