Shrek 5 has a summer 2026 release date
DreamWorks Animation confirms the sequel, which will once again star Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz in the original version.
Fifteen years later Shrek 4: Forever Afterthe saga is reborn. Shrek 5 is officially in development, DreamWorks Animation announced today, unveiling a release date that is “Far Far Away, but not too far away”: Shrek 5 will be released in theaters on July 1, 2026.

As a bonus, we learn that the original stars of the American voice cast will be back: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy And Cameron Diaz will return to play Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. The return ofAntonio Banderas in the role of Puss in Boots is not yet confirmed. It is also not known whether Alain Chabat And Barbara Tissier will reprise their roles for the French version.
