“It’s exciting to return to the Roman Empire, 25 years later!” Ridley Scott, Paul Mescal and the others promise an incredibly epic sequel.

“Rome has so many subjects, they must be nourished…” General Marcus Acacius, played by Pedro Pascalappears at the command of the powerful Roman army in search of permanent expansion, in a brand new video from Gladiator 2put online by Paramount.

It reveals a whole bunch of new images of previously unseen battles, notably on the borders of the Empire, recounts this era of political instability in the heart of Ancient Rome and the cast discusses the epic scope of the sequel. You can even hear Denzel Washington admitting that this is the biggest film he has ever been involved in.

He will play Macrinus, a wealthy merchant who supplies the Roman armies with slaves, warriors, and other human goods. It is he who will bring Lucius (Paul Mescal), son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen) in the footsteps of his father, General Maximus, the hero of the first Gladiator.

Gladiator II will be released on November 13 in cinemas in France.
