Television channels pay tribute to Laurent Cantet

Several great films by the director who died at the age of 63 are worth (re)watching.

The disappearance of Laurent Cantet, this Thursday, left a big void in French cinema. A talented and committed director, he has distinguished himself through his remarkable filmography, his mobilization for undocumented immigrants and his participation in the 50/50 collective which promotes the equality of women and men and diversity in cinema and audio-visual. He is also the co-founder with Pascale Ferran and Cédric Klapisch of LaCineteka VOD platform which offers heritage films selected by filmmakers.

To pay tribute to him, television channels are offering several works by the filmmaker who died at the age of 63. The Arte website has put its first two feature films online: Human ressourceswhich won the César for best first film (and best new arrival for Jalil Lespert, and The timetable, inspired by the true story of Jean-Claude Romand, the impostor who made his loved ones believe for years that he was a doctor. Plus the short film Beach gamesalready with Jalil Lespert.

France Télévisions, for its part, announced the broadcast ofArthur Rambo, the latest film by Laurent Cantet released in 2021, on Saturday May 4 on Culture Box (France 4). The essential Between the wallswhich received the Palme d'Or in 2008, will be offered during the Cannes Film Festival. Between the walls is already visible on MyCanal (until Tuesday only), as well as a collection dedicated to Laurent Cantet.
