The hypnotic saxophone melody punctuates the Blue Giant trailer
Presented at the Annecy Festival, Blue Giant projects Dai’s keen ambition to become the best saxophonist in the world.
The craze for a musical instrument echoes the phenomenon Whiplash (2014) Damien Chazelle. Except that here, it’s not about playing the drums, but the saxophone.
Dai Miyamoto, the main character that we discover below, decides to change his life after attending a jazz show in the city of Sendai. It’s a revelation. Hypnotized by the rhythm, Dai wants to make a living from his new passion by becoming a great musician. Even if he knows nothing about this very specific field, the young man will have to be patient to cross the doors of a selective environment. Will he manage to become the greatest tenor saxophonist?
