Conversations will be organized throughout this 21st edition.
The next edition of Marrakech International Film Festival will take place from November 29 to December 7, 2024. Its organizers are today announcing a host of recognized directors to participate in Conversations organized with the public throughout the festivities.
“18 key personalities, directors, actors, screenwriters and producers from 6 continents, are expected in Marrakech this year. Between tasty anecdotes and open discussions on their vision and their practice of the profession, they are invited to exchange freely with the festival-goers”they promise, emphasizing that “most of them have won awards at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, as well as the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and the Berlinale.”
In detail, were invited: the American director, screenwriter and producer Tim Burton (Ed Wood, Beetlejuice 2), the Canadian director and screenwriter David Cronenberg (The Fly, The Shrouds), the Mexican director, screenwriter and producer Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Disclaimer), the American director and screenwriter Ava DuVernay (Selma), the American director and screenwriter Todd Haynes (May, December), the Australian director and screenwriter Justin Kurzel (MacBeth, Nitram), the French director and screenwriter François Ozon (8 women, When autumn comes), British actress Gemma Arterton (Tamara Drew), American actor and director Sean Penn (Into the Wild), the Iranian director, screenwriter and producer Mohammad Rasoulof (The Devil does not exist), the Brazilian director and screenwriter Walter Salles (Travel diaries, I’m still here), the Russian director and screenwriter Kirill Serebrennikov (Limonov, The Ballad), the Mauritanian director and screenwriter Abderrahmane Sissako (Timbuktu) and the French director and screenwriter Justine Triet (Anatomy of a fall).
A cross-conversation around their first films will be held between Moroccan filmmakers Alaa Eddine Aljem (The Miracle of the Holy Unknown), Yasmine Benkiran (Queens), Ismaël El Iraki (Zanka Contact) And Kamal Lazraq (The Packs).
The precise program can be found on the event website. It is specified that each conversation will last approximately 1 hour and that they will all take place within the new space of the Meydene cultural center.
