The opening monologue of the 2026 Golden Globes that scratches Leonardo DiCaprio

“I’m sorry for that joke, it was easy… I tried not to make it. But we don’t know anything else about you!”

It only took a few minutes for Nikki Glaser to remind us that, even at the Golden Globes, no one is safe from a well-placed joke. And Leonardo DiCaprio paid the price last night, during the 83rd ceremony.

During her opening monologue, the American comedian – who presented the evening for the second time in a row – did not fail to greet the star of UOne battle after another. She highlighted her exemplary career, her performances that have become cult and her impressive achievements in terms of awards, before saying:

“What a career you’ve had. Countless performances that have become iconic, you’ve worked with all the great directors. You’ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar. And the most impressive thing is that you managed to accomplish all this before your girlfriend turned 30. It’s crazy.”

A classic dig, which made the room laugh and made the person concerned smile, already targeted in the past for his love stories with women much younger than him. During the 2020 edition, Ricky Gervais said: “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood lasts almost three hours. Leonardo DiCaprio was at the premiere, and by the end of the screening, his girlfriend was already too old for him!”

Nikki Glaser also admitted that her joke was not very original. But she also confides that we know too little about Leo over the past 30 years, apart from his multiple conquests.

“Leo, sorry for that joke, it was easy… I tried not to make it. But we don’t know anything else about you. There’s nothing else… I looked it up, and the most in-depth interview you ever gave was on Teen Beat in 1991!”

A real interview given by the very young Leonardo DiCaprio (exhumed by the web below) and in which we learned that he loved pasta. Obviously, this is still the case…
