The rest of The Office unveils its trailer: who will be the new Michael Scott?

Oscar is back, in a new business … Discover the new derivative series, and always in the form of a Mockumentary sitcom!

Ten years later, we are back to Dunder Mifflin … well not quite! The team that had produced the documentary on the paper business and its subsidiary of Scranton is back. The rest of The Office is revealed and her name will be The Paper.

Still in the form of a Mockumentary sitcom, this derivative series immerses us in the premises of a local newspaper in perdition in the American Midwest, the Toledo Truth Teller. This is where Oscar Martinez is now working (yes Oscar Nuñez is back). The brilliant accountant of Dunder Mifflin has changed store, and he will not really appreciate being filmed again 24 hours a day, as shown in the trailer (below).

But as at the time of The Office, Oscar will only have a secondary role in this story. The central character will be the new editor, Ned Sampson, embodied by Domhnall Gleeson. The former Star Wars villain will come out his romantic side, seen in Il was time (about Time) against Rachel McAdams (in 2013) and will obviously be the new “Jim” (John Krasinski) of The Paper. We understand via this video that he will flirt (at the Jim and Pam?) With an employee of the newspaper, played by Chelsea Frei, while trying to relaunch the business with new ideas to save the paper press. Problem: the editorial staff share its offices … with a toilet paper factory!

But then who will be the Michael Scott of this new story in an office? Obviously, it is Sabrina Impacciatore (Italian actress crossed in season 2 of White Lotus) who will play wacky managers. A kind of feminine Michael Scott. But we already know that it will not be possible to reproduce the genius of Steve Carell, who was inspired by the madness of Ricky Gervais. Sabrina Impacciatore will have to find her own tone and from there will certainly come the failure or success of The Paper. It will also be recalled that Carell had put an entire season to find the right tone of Michael Scott, at the time of The Office.

Fortunately, Greg Daniels will be at the helm of this new series. The creator of the American version of The Office (he had been able to adapt to his sauce the English concept of Ricky Gervais) wrote this spin-off, with Michael Koman (Nathan for You).

The Paper hopes to reconnect with the quirky spirit and the absurd atmosphere of its illustrious predecessor. The mission promises to be delicate, but the cast is promising and we want to believe it. Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young and Tim Key complete the distritbution.

The Paper will be a streaming series broadcast on the Peacock platform in the United States (which does not exist in France). Season 1 will have 10 episodes. The first four will be put online on September 4.

For the time being, no broadcast date in France has been announced. We do not yet know who will recover the series.
