The return of Spartacus confirmed: the new series will be on Ashur
Nick Tarabay would reprise his role a decade later.
It’s official: there will be a new series Spartacus soon on American TV. Nick Tarabay will reprise the role of Ashur, the Roman villain he played in 6 episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011) and 21 episodes of Spartacus: the blood of gladiators (2010-2012).
In development since February, the project is confirmed and will be titled Spartacus: House of Ashur. It will be written and executive produced by franchise creator Steven S. DeKnight, who will also serve as showrunner.
“Spartacus: House of Ashur will be a historical, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal success. The series asks the question: what if Ashur hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? What if he had been offered the gladiator school that once belonged to Batiatus in exchange for helping the Romans kill Spartacus and end the slave rebellion?“
Spartacus: House of Ashur will be the fifth series in the saga, which delights its founder:
“Having the opportunity to return a decade later to a series you loved is such a rare and wonderful opportunity“, DeKnight said. “I’m excited to create this next chapter in the saga Spartacus“.
