There will be a new horror film Amityville

The famous haunted house will reopen its doors under the leadership of the director of Lights Out.

Horror is a genus in full boom. The proof with the jackpot of Conjuring. Or the summer surprise, Passed out.

So Amazon MGM Studios will not allow a license as famous as Friendship.

The studio is preparing to reopen the doors of the most haunted house in the 7th art. A new film Friendship is launched and will be made to David F. Sandberg.

Revealed with Lights Out (2016), Sandberg quickly established himself in horror with Annabelle 2: The creation of evil (2017), before going to the superheroic with Shazam! (2019) and Shazam! The rage of the gods (2023). More recently, he signed Until Dawn (2025).

For this new Friendshipthe scenario is entrusted to Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing, already to the writing of Conjuring: judgment time.

Launched in 1979 with the film by Stuart Rosenberg, adapted from Jay Anson’s book published two years earlier, the myth of Amityville has already experienced many suites, remakes and reboots – from the 2005 remake with Ryan Reynolds at most recent Amityville: The Awakening (2017) with Bella Thorne and McKenna Grace.

For the moment, no details on the intrigue or the casting of the new Friendship has not been revealed. The release date is also unknown.

Let us recall that the original film of 1979 told the story of a family terrorized by evil forces after having moved into a house marked by a bloody massacre and haunted by the shadow of a satanist from the 18th century. Between invasive flies, walls oozing the blood and outdated priests, Amityville has established itself as one of the classics of American horror.

Since then, around thirty films stamped Friendship were produced.
