Twister 2: the trailer that sweeps away everything in its path
The tornado chasers have a blast in “Twisters,” which will be released in theaters next summer.
Guess about the Super Bowl last night! The first trailer for Twisters has been released online and shows the first images of what will not be a direct sequel to the 1996 film but rather a “new chapter” in the franchise.
Helen Hunt will not be there, nor Bill Paxton, who sadly died in 2017, aged just 61. It is Daisy Edgar Jonesrevealed in Normal People, who will play the heroine, a former storm chaser who works in an office after surviving a terrifying tornado. But of course, she will have to return to the field alongside a hothead in the discipline, aka Glen Powellrevealed in Top Gun 2 At the movie theater.
The pitch presents us “Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years, who now studies storm patterns on screens from the safety of New York. She is drawn into the field, on the plains of Oklahoma, by her friend Javi, to test a revolutionary new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social media superstar who thrives on posting about his storm-chasing adventures with his rambunctious crew. The more dangerous, the better!”
Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, Harry Hadden-Paton, Nik Dodani, Tunde Adebimpe, Katy O’Brian and David Corenswet complete the cast. As with the first installment, Steven Spielberg is attached to executive produce via Amblin Entertainment.
Twisters will be directed by the Oscar-winning director Minari, Lee Isaac Chung. Released in cinemas on July 17, 2024.
