Uncharted 2 is being written, says Mark Wahlberg
And a priori, he will keep the mustache!
It was supposed to be one of the big events of 2022, but Uncharted would have been a bit of a disappointment. The adaptation of the famous Playstation video games did not really wow the critics and the box office stopped at 400 million dollars in revenue. As a result, the enormous long-term franchise that was to initiate this first part was stopped dead in its tracks. No news fromUncharted 2. And almost two years later, it’s Mark Wahlberg which reassures the fans.
The actor and producer confides to The Direct that the sequel project has not been abandoned. A script for Uncharted 2 is currently in development.
“I’ve heard a lot of different ideas. I know someone has written a script and they’re still working on it.”
He then specifies that the scenario in question “plans that Sully will have the mustache the whole time! Which makes perfect sense, obviously, since in that final scene, I have the mustache!”
Logical too, since it corresponds to the Sully of the games. But not necessarily good news for Mark Wahlbergwho then confides having “spent quite a bit of time growing it out because at one point we tried to do it with a fake mustache, and I couldn’t do it… It seemed ridiculous to me. It just felt like I had a big piece of tape on my mouth. I admire actors who can wear wigs, prosthetics, makeup and all that… Anyway, when I finally got the mustache, people really liked it! And it was a nice nod (to the games) at the end of this film. So if we can make something better than the first one, I’m all for it. But I don’t know much more at the moment.”
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the film Uncharted starred Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Antonio Banderas as Santiago Moncada, and Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer.
