What is the Revival of Souviens- you are worth it last summer? (critical)
Although higher than his heartbreaking previous episode of 2006, this fourth part of the famous franchise tinged with self -mockery remains too much in the nails to mark the spirits
We had been able to anticipate the revival of Scream But not necessarily seen coming from that of Remember you… last summer (who have in common Kevin Williamson, screenwriter of the first part of the two franchises). A saga that one could believe definitively buried after his heartbreaking third episode in 2006 then the failure to bring him to life by Mike Flanagan (before he became the master of horror with Not a noise,, Ouija or Doctor Sleep) At the heart of the 2010 years. But that was without counting – four years after a variation on video premium – on the determination of Sony which gave its green light to the project imagined by the director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, accompanied here by the historic producer of the franchise, Neal H. Moritz
No need to maintain the suspense for a long time. This fourth part does not revolutionize the genre and even fully assumes a copy- paste almost integral with the intrigue of the original film. Five friends who, after involuntarily caused a fatal car accident, decide to conceal their involvement and conclude a pact to keep the secret. Until a year later, this common past returns to haunt them when they discover that someone knows what they have done the previous summer … and begins to take revenge by targeting them one after the other.
Assessment? Pop corn cinema effectively where knowledge of the springs requires, its 111 minutes necessarily pull online and will forget almost as fast as they have been consumed. Yet it Remember you… last summer 2025 manages from time to time to get out of the frame. And he owes it to his lack of spirit of seriousness. To the humor tinged with self-mockery that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson knew how to distill it precisely with the unchanging side of situations of this kind of film and by revisiting some in terms of the evolution of the men’s- women between 1998 (year of the first part signed Jim Gillespie) and 2025. But also and above all by the way (without spoiling) Reintroduce one by one through the story Several of the stars of the first opus, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt in mind.
