Who are the greatest actors of all time according to Timothée Chalamet?
For the Franco-American actor, the one and only GOAT is called…
He is getting everyone to agree with Marty Supreme (which will be released in February 2026 in France).
Timothée Chalamet is undeniably one of the best actors of his generation. But who are the greatest actors of all time according to him?
During a “high-speed” interview for the YouTube account Lucid Motors – conducted by two stars of his New York Knicks team, Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson – the Franco-American actor did not hesitate to give his Top 3:
“Denzel Washington is the GOAT! Christian Bale is the second GOAT. And Joaquin is the weird GOAT.”
A very personal hierarchy, but revealing of its influences.
It should be noted that Timothée Chalamet shared the poster with Christian Bale in the western Hostiles in 2017, where he was able to see the famous “Bale method” up close. As for Denzel Washington and Joaquin Phoenix, their sprawling filmographies – between blockbusters, intense dramas and broken characters – have made them absolute references for an entire generation of actors.
The actor also slips in an anecdote about his friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio: just before the interview, Leo sent him a panicked message upon learning of his new shaved head look: “I was told you shaved your head. Tell me it’s not true…”
Chalamet also recalls an old piece of advice that DiCaprio gave him — something he often quotes: “No superhero movies, no hard drugs.”
Rules that he always respects… even if he recognizes one major exception: it’s The Dark Knight who made him want to become an actor. And if he one day comes across the perfect script, with the right director, he doesn’t rule out slipping into a cape…
