Widow’s Bay and The Pitt crush the 2026 Emmy Awards: the winners
Apple TV’s horror comedy sets a historic record with 14 statuettes, while The Pitt retains its title as best drama series. DTF St. Louis is crowned Best Mini-Series.
A breath of fresh air blew over the 2026 Emmys last night in Los Angeles.
The new Widow’s Bay dominated the 78th ceremony, and becomes the new queen of comedy. With 14 statuettes won in total – between last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards and Monday night’s main ceremony – the first season of Apple TV’s horror series simply becomes the most awarded comedy season in Emmy Awards history. Widow’s Bay thus erases the previous record established last year by The Studio, which won 13 awards.
It won Best Comedy Series, Best Actor for Matthew Rhys, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Kate O’Flynn, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Stephen Root, but also Best Direction for Hiro Murai and Best Screenplay for its creator Katie Dippold:
“Personally, I have to quickly thank my mother, who always made Halloween special,” Dippold said while accepting his award for best screenplay. “This team has been a wonderful collaboration of the best artists and the most wonderful misfits.”
At the same time, The Pitt once again confirms its status as a heavyweight at the Emmys. The HBO Max medical series won 7 awards, including the two most prestigious: Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle, crowned for the second year in a row. With 25 nominations, The Pitt was also the most nominated series of this edition.
Apple TV also places Pluribus just behind with 6 victories. Vince Gilligan’s new series notably allows Rhea Seehorn to finally win the Emmy for best actress in a drama series, after having been forgotten during the six seasons of Better Call Saul. Gilligan also won the award for Best Screenplay for a Drama Series.
In the mini-series and anthologies category, DTF St. Louis dominates with 7 statuettes, notably for David Harbor and Linda Cardellini, crowned in the secondary acting categories. Its creator Steven Conrad also leaves with the prizes for direction and screenplay.
The ceremony was hosted by Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay.
