Zoe Saldaña doesn’t think she’s good in Avengers: Endgame
“If I could reshoot certain scenes…”
If Zoe Saldana had a Time Stone, she already knows what she would do with it. The American actress told Variety today that she hated her performance in Avengers: Endgame. And if she could, she would do things a little differently in hindsight.
“I wish I could go back and do what Gamora went through in the Avengers movies. Because I didn’t really understand what the Russo brothers were doing at the time and where they were going with it.”
Gamora plays a major role in Avengers: Infinity War And Avengers: Endgame. Adopted daughter of the big bad Thanos (Josh Brolin), she sacrificed herself to obtain the Soul Stone in a dramatic scene on the planet Vormir. Except that in Endgamean alternate version of Gamora returned, from a parallel world, again choosing to abandon Thanos to join the Avengers.
Looking back, Saldaña would have liked to dig deeper into this father-daughter bond. “I wish I could go back and do it again so I could push this storyline a little further, because it was a great opportunity to play a girl with daddy issues. To explore this opportunity to reconcile, heal, repair or simply move away from this person. It would have been a great opportunity to play out those feelings… except I didn’t quite understand it that way at the time.”
Zoe Saldana subsequently returned to the Marvel Universe on the occasion of Guardians of the Galaxy 3in 2023.
