The secrets of The Office star Jenna Fisher about cancer
Dunder Mifflin’s unforgettable Pam gave a poignant interview to the Today show on Monday as she battles breast cancer.
A few days ago, Jennifer Fisher publicly confessed to suffering from breast cancer. And this Monday, the star of The Office appeared on the show Today to tell his story and continue to raise awareness about the disease.
Interviewed by Hoda Kotb, the 50-year-old actress explained how she was diagnosed last December, reminding women to make sure to get regular mammograms and checkups, especially if they’ve been putting them off.
“When I had my biopsy, the mood changed. That’s when I started to get nervous… That’s when I saw words like “invasive, ductal, carcinoma, malignant,” and I thought that sounded like terms related to cancer.”
She was eventually diagnosed with stage 1 “triple positive” breast cancer, a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. The actress says her biggest challenge was sharing the news with her children, who are 10 and 13, and then with Angela Kinsey. Also actress of The Office (she plays Angela), Kinsey is the best friend of Jennifer Fisher in the city and also the co-host of the podcast Office Ladieswhich they both realize. Fisher therefore insisted on continuing to work, despite the illness.
“All the most important things became so clear so quickly” continues Jenna Fischer. “I think the world is such a beautiful place in all its weirdness. Things that once irritated me now sometimes seem charming to me. Like car traffic or other things.”
After an operation, radiotherapy and 12 chemotherapy sessions, doctors recently announced to the actress that she no longer showed any signs of cancer in her body. Watch his testimony above).
