7 at home: a new series without the original cast?
A reboot is under development, with Jessica Biel at the helm.
Will the Camden family be reborn from its ashes?
According to Varietya cult series reboot 7 at home (7th Heaven in VO) is currently in development At CBS Studios. Twenty years after the first episodes, the emblematic family series could be reborn … in a completely redesigned form.
At the helm of this new project, we find Anthony Sparksknown for his work on Queen Sugar (OWN), Bel-Air (Peacock) and the series Mike (Hulu) which told Mike Tyson’s life. He will officiate here as showrunner And executive producer.
But that’s not all: Jessica Bielstar of the show which embodied Mary Camden in the original series, should resume service to produce this new version of 7 at home – via his company Iron Ocean.
The reboot would offer a new approachcentered on a diversified family, without any return of the members of the original casting.
No broadcaster is still associated with the project, negotiations being still in progress.
Remember that 7 at home – Created by Brenda Hampton – had been launched in 1996 on the American channel The WB (later The CW). Carried by the figure of Pastor Eric Camden and his large family, the series lasted 11 seasons and near 250 episodesbecoming a pillar of the American Family Drama from the 90s and 25,000. She was also one of the last productions ofAaron SpellingAmerican television monument, before his death in 2006.
The inheritance of the series remains however tainted by the scandal Stephen Collins : In 2014, the interpreter of the ideal father admitted acts of sexual assault on three minors, several decades before.
