The God of War series found Kratos’ son

While preproduction is in full swing in Vancouver, Amazon MGM Studios formalizes the choice of the actor who will play Atreus, the son of Kratos.

Amazon MGM Studios continues to strengthen the highly anticipated cast of the live-action television adaptation of God of War, based on the cult PlayStation saga.

Currently in pre-production in Vancouver, the Prime Video series will tell the initiatory journey of Kratos and his son Atreus, responsible for scattering the ashes of Faye, missing wife and mother. A journey during which the father tries to teach his son to become a god, while the child seeks to make his father more human.

It is Callum Vinson, seen in Chucky and in the series The River of the Disappeared, who was chosen to play Atreus, aged ten. The actor will also star in Crystal Lake, the Friday the 13th prequel series for Peacock, where he will play a young Jason Voorhees…

Raised in an isolated cabin in the heart of a forest by his mother, Atreus is described as a gifted archer, close to animals and driven by a consuming curiosity for the outside world. After Faye’s death, he finds himself faced with a cold and distant father whom he barely knows. Eager to gain his approval, the child seeks above all to prove that he is capable of surviving in a brutal and dangerous world.

In the casting, Callum Vinson will therefore go for a walk with Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) aka Kratos. They will meet Max Parker as Heimdall, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor and Teresa Palmer as Sif,

The series, strongly inspired by Norse mythology, is headed by Ronald D. Moore, who pens the screenplay and is executive producer. The first two episodes will be directed by Emmy winner Frederick EO Toye.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions, the series is already assured of a season 2 even before the first broadcast.
