Trailer for The Boroughs: The Duffers’ Last Stand on Netflix
The platform revealed the first preview of this new science fiction series produced by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things.
This will be their last adventure on Netflix.
Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer have signed a deal with Paramount and will soon leave the streaming giant to go to the competition. But first, the creators of Stranger Things will offer a brand new original and fantastic creation, entitled The Boroughs: Rebel Retreat.
A science fiction series of which they are executive producers (but not showrunners or creators) which will leave childhood to focus on the 3rd age:
“In a seemingly ideal retirement community, a grieving newcomer has a monstrous encounter that pushes him to join a band of unlikely heroes. Together, they uncover a dark secret that proves that old age can hold as many dangers as surprises!” details the synopsis.
As shown in the trailer, The Boroughs will be the name of a neighborhood bringing together semi-autonomous elderly people, who will discover a secret hidden under the residences. Alfred Molina plays Sam, a recent widower who moves into this senior residence. And he will join forces with several inhabitants to face a supernatural anomaly… Extra-terrestrial?
At his side, we find in particular Geena Davis, but also Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman, as well as Ed Begley Jr., and Jane Kaczmarek.
Created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, behind Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Boroughs: Rebel Retreat will be available on Netflix on May 21, 2026. Watch the trailer below:
