A 5th Sonic film announced in theaters in 2028
It will be a spin-off, but we do not yet know which creature in the universe it will be dedicated to.
Paramount continues to expand the universe of Sonicnow one of its most profitable franchises.
The studio has dated December 22, 2028 a “Sonic Universe Event Film”which will actually be the fifth film in the franchise to hit theaters. Still untitled, we do not know what it will be about or on which character it will be centered. It will be produced by Neal H. Moritz, historic producer of the franchise.
This project will indeed follow Sonic 4expected on March 19, 2027, and which will extend the main trilogy. Without being Sonic 5 (not yet announced but which should follow), this new opus will certainly allow us to focus on a fellow creature of the blue hedgehog, like what the series Knuckles had made in 2024 on Paramount +.
The Sonic saga remains a major pillar for the studio: the first three parts have already generated more than a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.
And the Ninja Turtles
At the same time, Paramount confirms the return of Leonardo & co to the cinema. A live action film with Ninja Turtles will be released in 2028.
The project, also produced by Neal H. Moritz, will take the form of a live action/CG animation hybrid designed for a family audience. It will mark the great return to live action of the four brothers Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, a first since Ninja Turtles 2 in 2016.
After this failure in theaters, Paramount relaunched the license via animation with Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years in 2023, which was subsequently extended into an animated series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Legends of the Ninja Turtles. A cinema sequel is planned: Mutant Mayhem 2scheduled for September 17, 2027.
The new live film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesis scheduled for November 17, 2028.
