A remake of the cult sci-fi horror film The Blob is in the works
From the director of the new Hellraiser.
Filmmaker David Bruckneralready at the initiative of the remake Hellraiser (2022), confided The Wrapset about writing a new Blob for Warner Bros. For now, plot details are being kept under wraps.
The film of David Bruckner marks the third remake of the sticky horror phenomenon. The original film is called Planetary Danger (1958) with Steve McQueen in the shoes of a whistleblower, for his first main role. Larry Hagman made the sequel in 1972, Watch out for the Blob! In 1988, Chuck Russell makes a famous remake starring Kevin Dillon.
The 1958 feature film tells the story of an amorphous alien life form that descends on a Pennsylvania town. The strange substance begins to consume anyone who comes into contact with it. The alien, is known for its pinkish gelatinous material, which tends to grow like a mushroom. Matter swarms and shines with its perfidious intelligence which allows victims to be lured into its nets. With its simple, effective visual effects and B-movie horror aesthetic, The Blob has become a cult classic, pioneering body horror extraterrestrial, followed by the wave Alien.
David Goyer (Terminator: Dark Fate) And Keith Levine (The Prey of a Shadow) are part of the production team for the upcoming film, along with Judith Harris as executive producer.
