Longlegs: Osgood Perkins’ horror thriller starring Nicolas Cage is showing
The director of the film is none other than the son of the iconic Psycho(path), Anthony Perkins.
NEON continues its mysterious marketing campaign around Longlegs. A digital strategy which saw the creation of an Instagram account, as well as an X account for this film, where the first images posted caused a sensation.
The feature film is directed by Osgood Perkinsson of the iconic actor of Psychosis, Anthony Perkins. The filmmaker, who shares the name of his actor grandfather, is known for his 2015 independent debut, February And Gretel & Hansel, in 2020.
The plot of the project was first teased through three teasers that surfaced 11 days ago. The story ? Lee Harker, a new FBI recruit, has been assigned to an unsolved case of an elusive serial killer. As the investigation becomes drastically complicated, new and hidden evidence surfaces. Harker unwillingly forms a personal connection with the ruthless killer and must act quickly to prevent another murder.
The teasers hint at an obscure investigation, but they don’t say too much either. Longlegs undoubtedly intrigues an audience eager for thrillers, so promotion is done in dribs and drabs. After the videos, here four promotional posters:
In addition to these four visuals, the NEON studio is satisfying the curiosity of its audience by raising the curtain on a trailer, which will be revealed this Friday, February 2. The film stars Maika Monroe (It Follows, Honey Boy) as an FBI agent Nicolas Cage as a serial killer, as well asAlicia Witt (The Walking Dead) and Blair Underwood (American Crime Story). The film is classified R For “Bloody violence, disturbing images and language“.
Nicolas Cage examined its role in Longlegs For Fangoria :
“He (Oz Perkins) is pretty strong in the horror genre right now. He’s actually Anthony’s (Perkins) son. He made very good films. Gretel & Hansel was great. I play a character who hears voices. It’s a bit like a possessed Geppetto, who makes these dolls…“
The producers are Nicolas Cage (with his production company Saturn Films), Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious), Dave CaplanAnd Chris Ferguson. Production on the film wrapped in March 2023. Longlegs would be placed “in the vein of psychological thrillers, Hollywood classics“, according to Bloody Disgusting. No release date has been announced, but it remains likely that the film will be released in summer 2024.
