A founding episode in the history of Westeros which will tell the creation of the Targaryen dynasty.
Last March, we learned in the press of the development of the very first film Game of Thrones for the cinema. It’s now official. Warner Bros. revealed the title of the project on the occasion of the Las Vegas CinemaConand it will simply be called Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquesteither Aegon’s Conquest in French.
This title confirms the subject of the film, which will therefore tell how Aegon Targaryen, known as Aegon the Conqueror, brought six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros under his control and forged the Iron Throne, becoming the first king of the Targaryen dynasty. A bloody and burning conquest carried out with his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys and their dragons including the terrifying Balerion, nicknamed the Black Terror.
This founding episode was recounted in the book Fire and blood by George RR Martin, already partially adapted into the series House of the Dragon which opens with the reign of Viserys, fifth king of the Targaryen dynasty.
Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest is written by Beau Willimon, who was the showrunner ofHouse of Cards and one of the authors of the Star Wars series Andor. In the cinema, he also wrote the screenplay for Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotswith Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.
