After Gladiator 2, Ridley Scott returns with a series: Dope Thief
He produced and directed this thriller directed by Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura, based on a true story.
Between Napoleon And Gladiator 2, Ridley Scott found the time to make a TV series! At the start of 2023, before production began on his epic epic, and then in full post-production of his biopic of the French emperor, the 86-year-old filmmaker found the time to embark on a new TV series for Apple.
Dope Thief will be a detective series with Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) And Wagner Moura (Narcos), which will follow “two delinquents and longtime friends from Philadelphia, posing as DEA agents in order to rob a random house in the countryside. But when they unwittingly uncover the largest drug bust on the East Coast, what was supposed to be a small scam turns into a deadly enterprise..”
A thriller – adapted from the eponymous novel by Dennis Tafoya – composed of eight episodes, produced by Ridley Scottwho also directed the pilot himself. The series is created by Peter Craigscreenwriter of The Batman And Top Gun: Maverickwho had just worked with Ridley Scott on the history of Gladiator 2… A project on the go, which also includes Marin Ireland, Kate Mulgrew and Ving Rhames in the cast.
The first two episodes of Dope Thief will be available on Friday March 14, 2025, followed by a new episode every Friday until April 25 on Apple TV+ and also in France on Canal +.
