What audiences for the start of Stranger Things, season 5?
The first episodes of the final season were awaited at the turn. As expected, they were a hit.
The home stretch of Stranger Things begins with stratospheric numbers.
Part 1 of season 5, the first four episodes of which were posted online last week, quite simply marks the best launch in history for an English-language Netflix series.
In five days, the series has accumulated 59.6 million views. A huge score, which already places it on the podium of the biggest startups on the platform, behind only seasons 2 and 3 of Squid Game, still untouchable.
To measure the scale of the phenomenon: in 2022, Stranger Things season 4 opened with 22 million views (conversion from the 287 million hours then recorded at the time).
Season 5 is therefore +171%, even if it benefited from a five-day window, compared to three for season 4.
And the wait around the finale also caused a rare retroactive effect: all seasons of Stranger Things found themselves in the Netflix global Top 10 last week. An unprecedented case. During the period from November 24 to 30:
Remember that Netflix will unveil part 2 on December 26, before the grand finale of Stranger Things, scheduled for January 1, 2026 in France.
