Antoinette in the Cévennes will be remade with Toni Collette, by the director of Twilight
Catherine Hardwicke is preparing A French Pursuit, written by Olivia Hetreed (Girl with a Pearl Earring).
After Laura Calamy leaving in search of her lover in the Cévennes, accompanied by a donkey, it will soon be the turn of Tony Collette to take this same spiritual and loving journey. Variety announces that the film A French Pursuit will be adapted from nice success by Caroline Vignal, Antoinette in the Cévennes (2020), with the flagship actress of Heredity in the main role. It will be filmed by Catherine Hardwickethe director of the first Twilightwho has already directed her in Miss You Already And Mafia Mamma.
The two women take up the concept of the French film, rewritten for a British protagonist by Olivia Hetreed (The Girl with the Pearl Earring), who will be called Zoe in this version. Collette (via his company Vocab Films), Hardwicke and his partner Christopher Simon of New Sparta Productions will also produce the film.
“I can’t wait to shoot my version of Zoe’s crazy stay this spring, in the magical natural settings of the Cévennes”said the director. “We’re delighted to support this British reinvention with such great colleagues and friends, (and a donkey or two!)”adds the entire New Sparta team in the press release relayed by the American site.
Note in this regard that the donkey who will accompany the heroine in this remake will no longer be called Patrick, but… Napoleon.
International sales ofA French Pursuit will take place at the film market of the next Berlinale. The festival will take place from February 15 to 25. Before this remake, Toni Collette will be appearing in Juror #2by Clint Eastwood (which marks his reunion with Nicholas Hoult, who played his son in For a boy), as well as in Mickey 17by Bong Joon ho.
