Dune prequel series changes title and specifies release date

In addition to the films directed by Denis Villeneuve, this series will expand the universe created by Frank Herbert.

HBO has renamed its prequel series, currently filming in Hungary, which is set in the universe of Dune (via IGN). Set 10,000 years before the events of the films made by Denis Villeneuvewith Timothée Chalamet in the role of Paul Atreides, it centers its plot on the mysterious Bene Gesserit and will henceforth be titled Dune: The Prophecy and no more Dune: The Sisterhood.

In the universe of Dunethe Bene Gesserit is a matriarchal esoteric organization of which Jessica Atreides (Rebecca Ferguson) Paul’s mother. Members of the Bene Gesserit are powerful prophetesses who act from the shadows to maintain the course of destiny for all humanity. In a memorable scene from the beginning of the film Villeneuvewe see Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling) testing the powers and resistance of Paul, who must put his hand in a box to endure great suffering.

The series Dune: The Sisterhood officially begins filming

Among the actresses and actors who will participate in the TV show, we will find Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves), Indira Varma (Game Of Thrones), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (The colony), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Great Expectations), Faoileann Cunningham (The Northman), Aoife Hinds (Normal People) And Chloe Lea (Foundation).

Series Dune: Prophecy is scheduled to be released in fall 2024. Its filming is not disrupted by the strike because the actors in the project are not part of the SAG-AFTRA union. So she will arrive after Dune: Part 2the continuation of the first part produced by Villeneuvepostponed to March 15, 2024 because of the actors’ strike in Hollywood.
