Fast & Furious 11 in a standstill: the budget is too high
The latest film in the saga is blocked in the stands. Universal refuses to pay the pharaonic amount requested by Vin Diesel and the band. No deal has yet been signed.

The film supposed to be the last part of the saga, the conclusion of the motorized adventures of the Toretto family, is still not on the way, weighed down by concerns about the budget.
Released in 2023, Fast x was initially launched a new trilogy. But faced with recipes deemed disappointing by Universal, the studio quickly changed its rifle: Fast 11 was announced as the last episode of the franchise. Since then, almost radio silence. Vin Diesel, the interpreter of Dominic Toretto, publicly called for a release date, but nothing concrete has advanced for months.
And today, an article from Wall Street Journal Reveals what gets stuck in the engine: the film still does not have a validated scenario and the majority of the casting has not even signed!
The big stumbling block is money, of course. Universal does not want to pay the staggering sum necessary to launch the shooting. Clearly, if the team fails to drastically reduce costs, the film could never be done. The studio would have set a limit around $ 200 million to Fast 11 far from the pharaonic budget of Fast x : 378 million, it was clearly too much! Especially since the signed component of the French Louis Leterrier has reported “only” 714 million worldwide. A tidy sum, certainly, but which barely reimbursed the investment of the studio. Universal no longer seems to see the films Fast & Furious like potential billionaires. In fact, he is no longer ready to inject so many dollars into the machine.
For the time being, a shooting next spring in Los Angeles remains envisaged, with a possible outing in 2027. But the latest script offered in the studio would revolve around 250 million dollars: too expensive for Universal, which pushes to dry cuts: fewer filming places, second roles reduced, or even discarded … The producers – including Vin Diesel – will they finish?
In parallel, Universal would already think about the after. If the saga in the cinema arrives at the end of the track, out of breath, the license Fast & Furious still has potential. Thus, among the tracks mentioned: a live-action series, spin-offs centered on certain characters, or even a return to more modest films, like the first opus. As if the franchise was still hoping to fuel … but with the foot on the brake.
