Florence Pugh explains why she said yes to Nolan for Oppenheimer
“You have to be crazy to say no,” said the actress who plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock in the film.
Why did you agree to play in one of the most anticipated films of the year? Although the answer is not hard to find, Florence Pugh advances two arguments that convinced her to choose Christopher Nolanand therefore, to miss the Barbie by Greta Gerwig, with whom she has already worked on The Daughters of Doctor March in 2019.
“It’s a Christopher Nolan movie, first of all. Second, he has one of the most amazing casts in this movie…I’m Cillian Murphy for a while, and I’ve wanted to work with him for ages. You would have to be crazy to say no. It was like playing a game with the best athletes, so it was definitely one of my best experiences so far.”she explained in the production notes of the film.
And indeed, part of the strength of this outing is its high-flying cast. Oppenheimer also meets on screen Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. Jack Quaid and Rami Malek. And that’s already a very good reason for accepting the project, which Christopher Nolan has been selling for a few weeks as a strong film that “leaves viewers devastated, speechless.”
Oppenheimer’s biographer was blown away by Christopher Nolan’s film
In the film, the actress Black Widow And don’t worry darling plays the role of Jean Tatlock, a psychiatrist member of the communist party, and close to Robert Oppenheimer (that the actor of Peaky Blinders embodies on screen). A strong woman who spent her life fighting her demons, and severe clinical depression. Historians have argued that the physicist would have had extra-marital relations with this doctor, who committed suicide a year before the end of the war and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Oppenheimer hits theaters on July 19, the same day as Barbie.
