Luca Guadanigno to direct Bret Easton Ellis’ series for HBO
The Italian director of Call Me by Your Name (2017) and Bones and All (2022) will adapt Les Éclats (The Shards).
While his next film, Challengersworn by Zendaya, will be released in theaters this year, Luca Guadagnino prepares to return to the small screen. The Italian filmmaker will sign the adaptation for HBO of Splinters (The Shards), the novel by Bret Easton Ellis released last January. The first book in 13 years by the American writer, best known for writing American Psycho And The Laws of Attraction.
Ellis revealed in an interview with El Independiente (via World of Reel) that Luca Guadagnino will direct the series that will go beyond the original novel. The Shards is supposed to be split into three seasons consisting of 10 episodes each. Bret Easton Ellis will apparently write every episode of the series.

note that Luca Guadagnino had previously directed for HBO the mini-series We Are Who We Arein 2020, worn by Chloë Sevigny and Jack Dylan Grazer.
No casting and no date yet announced for the series Splinters.
