Fortune de France: Christopher Thompson is already working on season 2

“It will broadly cover volume 2 and a little beyond.”

The story of Siorac’s family is not yet over. While France 2 will broadcast this evening the last two episodes of season 1 of Fortune of Francethe creator and director Christopher Thompson confides to Première that he already has the plan for the future.

He first explains to us that this first season only adapts the first volume of the literary saga written by Robert Merle at the end of the 1970s. “Because very quickly it seemed to us to be a full-fledged chapter in the history of this family. It covers years of the young heroes’ childhood and it takes us to pivotal moments, when they are growing up.”

But there is no question of stopping there. “We naturally worked on this first novel first, and now we are working on a second season, which will generally cover volume 2 of Fortune of Franceand we even extrapolate a little beyond” reveals to us Christopher Thompson.

If Merle wrote 12 volumes of Fortune of Francethe Siorac saga is essentially told in the first six books. So 6 seasons to cover the 6 volumes? “I don’t know yet” responds the director to Première. “Mbut it’s not totally unthinkable, if the public likes it…”

The first episodes of Fortune of France brought together around 2 million viewers and 10% audience share, facing fierce competition (Brocéliande And Love is in the pre).
