Helena Bonham Carter is already leaving White Lotus season 4

The British actress was no longer happy with her character and according to HBO, the role will be rewritten and the character recast.

She has already returned her room key! Helena Bonham Carter is leaving season 4 of The White Lotus as filming begins in France, as confirmed by HBO this weekend.

In a press release, the channel explains that the character imagined by Mike White no longer appealed to the actress once she arrived on the set. Result: the role must be completely rethought…

“As filming for the fourth season had just begun, it became clear that the character created by Mike White for Helena Bonham Carter did not suit the actress once on set,” HBO explains unfiltered in a press release. “The role has therefore been redesigned, is being rewritten and will be given to another actress in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened to not be able to work with her, but remain ardent admirers and look forward to collaborating with this legendary actress again on another project soon.”

Announced in January, the actress was to be part of a particularly dense cast: Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Kumail Nanjiani, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, and even Laura Smet. An international troupe faithful to the DNA of the series.

This new season of White Lotus will settle in France, between Paris and the Riviera, with a major anchor point: the Cannes Film Festival. The plot will follow, as always, a group of customers and employees of the White Lotus over a week, in a setting of luxury and tensions ready to explode.

Filming officially began last week on the French Riviera, with appearances planned in Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco and Paris.
