How was this huge orgy filmed in Peacemaker 2 was filmed?

A hyper graphic sex scene, which made lots of intimacy coordinators.

We had never seen that in a series of superheroes: episode 1 of season 2 has a huge sex scene. A giant orgy that pushes the limits of unheard of on television.

Chris Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena) sinks into depression after a humiliating failure to hearing for justice gang. Result: he organizes a unbridled party at home, drowned in alcohol, drugs … and sex. Each room, each piece of furniture, each surface becomes the playground of around thirty naked participants, filmed in a scene that lasts and does not hide behind its little finger. We see everything in this very “graphic” sequence, which shows frontal nudity and frantic copulations.

“When Economos sees that out the window, my character is in shock. But in reality, I too was a little shocked by what I saw” tells the actor Steve Agee at Entertainment Weekly.

“It was clearly the most graphic shooting day of my career, and yet I was only looking at it. I was not expecting that: I opened the window and there were thirty people making love, frontally, in all directions. I was hallucinated.”

Because everything really happened, on the set, in this disproportionate orgy sequence. No CGI or AI appeal. There were really lots of extras who came to simulate sex scenes with John Cena for long minutes.

And the sequence is not in half measures. “It’s not just filmed breasts, that’s all. Absolutely everything,” insists age.

While sex scenes are becoming increasingly rare in films and series, James Gunn did not hesitate to go there. And as we are in 2025, he wanted to supervise this filming so special with rigor.

Everything has been filmed on a closed plateau, with, of course, an army of intimacy coordinators to supervise all this in the rules. The filmmaker is delighted:

“I heard old -fashioned directors complain about intimacy coordinators, but I think it’s the best thing that has happened to us, for us, for 20 years! We had an excellent intimacy coordinator on the set during these filming days, and that made the realization of these really simple scenes. It allowed the actors to do what they felt comfortable. Were not just extras, since they are in the foreground a good part of the time – but truly invested people, a wonderful group, ready to show this insane chapter in the history of Christopher Smith. “

Building both burlesque and tragic, since Gunn emphasizes that this orgy is above all a metaphor for the descent into the Peacemaker’s underworld at the start of this season 2:

“We hear a lot about Chris’s sexual debauchery in the first season, and in this episode, we see a little overview. He uses sex and drugs to flee his feelings, and that is exactly what he does in this episode. It is a kind of relapse, in a certain way. He had evolved, he had become more vulnerable, and there he goes back.”
