Jafaar becomes Michael Jackson in this photo from the biopic that replays ‘Dangerous’
The nephew of the King of Pop will play the card of absolute mimicry.
Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International have just revealed this first official image from the film Michael, the biopic dedicated to the King of Pop. We see Jaafar Jacksonhis nephew, made up spectacularly in Michael Jacksonera Dangerous.
The promo image in question was captured by photographer Kevin Mazur, who iconically photographed the singer 30 years ago. “When I arrived for my first day on the set of this film, I was so excited – it was like the first time I went on tour with Michael Jackson !” assures Mazur. I felt like I was going back in time. Seeing Jaafar play, I was like, “Wow, that’s Michael. “His appearance and behavior, his mannerisms, everything – it’s Michael Jackson. For anyone who didn’t have the chance to see Michael perform in concert during his lifetime, that’s what it was like.“
Director Antoine Fuqua adds: “We brought together an incredible team of artists for this project – hair and makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything – and some who knew and worked with Michael are coming together for this film. But above all, it is Jaafar who plays Michael. It goes beyond physical resemblance. It’s Michael’s spirit shining through in a magical way. You have to experience it to believe it. With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael“.
The film, written by John Logan, should be titled simply Michael. Juliano Valdi will play the younger version of the singer, when he was in The Jackson Five. Colman Domingo will play his tyrannical father, Joe Jackson, and Miles Teller will play his agent.
Theatrical release in 2025.
